Federal President of The Nationals the Hon Larry Anthony today thanked LNP President Gary Spence for his dedicated service to Queensland politics and strong leadership of the LNP organisation.
Mr Anthony said the LNP organisation had been a powerful federal campaigning outfit under Mr Spence’s leadership with a remarkable 2016 Federal Election result that saw LNP win 70 percent of Queensland seats.
“Gary is a conviction leader and a strong advocate for LNP and Queensland on the national stage,” Mr Anthony said.
“It is a travesty that the Labor State Government has willfully used the legislative process to restrict the ability of the sitting president to do his job.
“Since November 2015, Gary has steered LNP through turbulent times and delivered a strong federal election result in the face of an anti-government swing.
“As the Liberal President at the time of the merger, Gary deserves much credit for the creation of the LNP. As both LNP Vice-President and President, he has worked over the past decade to cement the Party as a powerful force.
“I will miss working with Gary on The Nationals Federal Management Committee and thank him for his support and advice.”
