Coalition contributes collateral for Comboyne Community Club

The Comboyne Community Services Club will receive a significant upgrade to the function area and accommodation facilities with the Morrison Joyce Government committing more than $800,000 for a refurbishment.
Deputy Prime Minister, Barnaby Joyce said the Liberal and Nationals Government would provide $865,000 to ensure the centre could be fully utilised by the local community and attract more tourists.
The Deputy Prime Minister said the project will benefit many local groups and visitors to the area, such as cyclists, day trippers, motorcyclists, sporting groups, farming organisations and others seeking a small conference venue.
“The Nationals in government understand small rural communities and know that for our regions to continue to thrive we need to support them with the infrastructure they need, which is why we’re committing to upgrade this important local facility,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
Dr Gillespie said the local fires in late 2019 and early 2020 highlighted that more emergency accommodation was needed for the area.
“Through this investment, the club will be able to refurbish and build accommodation to capture a significant and untapped tourism market,” Dr Gillespie said.
“The redevelopment will provide the Comboyne community with new and improved facilities at this important social hub, which also serves as an emergency services centre.
“The Comboyne Plateau has relied significantly on a strong agricultural base over many years, and thisinvestment will create an opportunity for Comboyne to further enhance its economic future by attracting visitors to this beautiful part of our region.”
Dr Gillespie said the investment would upgrade the existing community structure, including a family deck area for dining and relaxation, roof and solar infrastructure upgrades, installation of air conditioning, disability exit ramps, upgrade of veranda facilities, renovated restrooms and repainting of interior and exterior of building.
“These upgrades will support our locals, who have always supported one another in times of need,” Dr Gillespie said.
