Keith businessman Miles Hannemann has been endorsed as The Nationals Candidate for Barker.
Community minded, Miles is currently serving a second term on the Tatiara District Council and is a former member of the SES and the South Australian Ambulance Service.
Miles has a particular interest in Community and Regional Development, bridging the Country/City divide and in addressing the skills shortages found throughout the region.
“I have 4 boys and I want to create opportunities for them in our communities, here in Barker,” Mr Hannemann said.
“We need to provide secure local jobs and bring people back to our regions so we can secure our way of life for future generations.”
“We have a strong story to tell – lower cost of living, affordable housing, cheaper industrial land, fantastic amenities and ideal locations to raise families.”
“I believe in regional development and I want to make sure that we are not just talking about economic development but the social and cultural development that needs to occur alongside.”
Miles believes we need to invest more money into roads and better transport, but we also need to invest in our people and communities.
“I’m focused on investing more into regional education so the kids don’t have to leave town and on providing the services that our communities need without it meaning a 2-5 hour drive to the city.”
Miles was raised in the Tatiara region and farms cattle, sheep and lucerne around Keith with his wife Louise.
