The Hon. Michelle Landry MP

Michelle Landry grew up in Rockhampton, where she attended the Hall State School and The Girls Grammar School while her parents owned a popular casket agency in the beef capital.

Later moving to live on the Capricorn Coast, Michelle has worked in a range of fields, including the biomedical and banking sectors and is mother to two successful young women.

Michelle Landry first won the seat of Capricornia in the September 2013 election and made history by winning again in 2016 and 2019. Michelle is well known for working hard and has fought hard for the entire region, delivering on the infrastructure, programs and transformative projects that will lead Capricornia to an economically secure future.

Michelle has championed many key issues and delivered record infrastructure in Capricornia. Often labelled as down to earth, hard-working and feisty, her ‘raw, no-nonsense, go-get-it’ attitude has achieved over $5 billion in infrastructure and community funding to help create more jobs for the region.

Michelle stands for improving the lot of small business; increasing investment and employment potential in the region; lobbying for better mobile phone services in the bush; improving our roads and highways and promoting the diversity of the region to the rest of the country.

While recognising the important economic contribution of coal and beef in the area, Michelle is focused on seeing a diverse economy that provides economic security through the Defence Industry, Southern Great Barrier Reef tourism, aquaculture, agriculture, aged care and education.

Michelle is committed to seeing Capricornia flourish through a diverse economy, where mining, agriculture and tourism sectors create wealth for families and small business.
